The latest reports indicate that both LTTE aircraft entered into the Colombo aerospace last night were destroyed by the air defense system. One of the aircraft disabled by anti air gunfire reportedly crashed into the Inland Revenue Department building located next to the Air force headquarters.
Air Force sources close to DR said that the second aircraft that had been trying to go back where it came from was shot down while flying over Negombo . Parts of the destroyed aircraft along with the body of the pilot were found close to the Katunayake Air Base.
It is now revealed that the planes took-off from Puthukudirippu at about 8.30pm and was immediately detected by the SLA. They entered Colombo around 9.30pm and missed their target and bombed IRD.
Meanwhile Due to the crash of the terrorist aircraft in Colombo,nearly 50 people have suffered injuries. According to the sources at the National Hospital Colombo, people have died in the incident.Also another 6 civilians suffered injuries in the air craft crash in Katunayake were admitted to the Negombo hospital.
